STATEMENT

I would like to view everything including society, manners and customs, art, and culture disinterestedly from a neutral point of view.
I am interested in the relation between social classes and cultural capital. I create works which use letters and symbols to reconstruct classifications that people make partly unconsciously in everyday life (for instance, a dichotomy into the friendly and the hostile) and ambiguous and bipolar relationships oscillating between the terms of such binary classifications.

For instance, the "CNJPUS TEXT", my representative work, is composed of alphabets as "converted characters", which are created through the process of extracting elements from existing Chinese characters. By spatially exemplifying that process in the form of English text written in CNJPUS and scattered strokes, it is intended to represent the unique character of Japanese, who have immediately adapted what they adopted from the external world to their own environment by imitating and experiencing it since ancient times.

私は、社会階級と文化資本の関係に関心をもち、人びとが日常の中で半ば無意識的に行っている分類（友好的なものと敵対的なものに二分）、また双方を揺れ動く両義的・両極的な関係性を、文字や記号を用いて再構築する作品を制作しています。
